Vanessa Ryan was diagnosed with guillian barre syndrome (an autoimmune disorder that causes paralysis) on March 16 2017. The paralysis went from the neck down as well as paralyzed the muscles in her face (eyes, mouth, forehead and eyebrows). Luckily her mobility came back within 6 months, though it wasn’t easy. Her goal is to give encouragement to patients and families going through what she went through.
