Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees discusses his alcoholism affect it had on his family and life. His first drink was given to him by John Lennon of the Beatles.
The kids felt that Daddy lied to them all the time. He drank tried to get normal again. He got verbally violent to his wife and children.
At one time he pulls out a gun they had in the house and that it is when his wife moved out for a couple days and isolated him. This is what woke up Maurice as he didn’t blackout during this event and remembered what his behaviour had done.
Included are comments by his wife, children, his brothers Barry and Robin.
Maurice’s interview with Lynn Redgrave was quite interesting, as he opened up about John Lennon giving him his alcoholic drink, his marriage to Lulu, partying, not crossing the line into alcoholism until he was 25 and his drinking habits.
Been there.. Never pulled a gun but I can relate to hiding bottles all over. My family was smart. I tried to quit several times. I did get sober for long periods but then relapsed. Maurices story is so riveting. I did get sober finally, but you only have today. Ironically Maurice was my favorite. His eyes showed a glimpse into his soul. Such a loss.
In my opinon they should have operated immediately. My sister died of septis. His system was posioned by the burst of his intestines, causing the heart attack and brain death. Gone way too soon.
I had a twisted bowel 10 years I was operated on as soon as arriving at WRH made a full recovery so sad about Maurice love the Bee Gees
